2021 Benjamin et David Duclaux Cote Rotie La Chana

 La Chana is the Duclaux brothers' most aromatic Côte-Rôtie, featuring 7% Viognier in the blend. Sourced from 20-year-old vines on the steep terraces of Tupin, this limited-release wine is a stunning expression of the famed Viognier-infused Syrah from this northern Rhone region.

Benjamin and David Duclaux, continuing their father Edmond's legacy, have refined their vineyard practices to produce wines of great finesse. For La Chana, the grapes are hand-harvested, with 80% de-stemmed, and macerated for three weeks. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled vats, followed by 18 months of ageing in 600-litre demi-muids, avoiding new oak to preserve purity.

This limited release is a very silky, modern example of the region which captures all the charms of Côte-Rôtie. Just a handful of bottles available.
