2022 Te Kano Life Pinot Gris

Te Kano’s Life Series blends fruit from across their Otago vineyards to capture the region’s range in one glass. This Pinot Gris brings together 65% Waitaki and 35% Northburn fruit – a mix that combines the chalky finesse of Waitaki with the ripe, mineral weight of Northburn.

The 2022 season was a good one. Warm, dry conditions early on gave way to cooler weather near harvest, helping the fruit develop both richness and freshness. Each parcel was hand-picked and fermented cool in stainless steel to preserve fruit detail, then left on full solids for a short time to build texture before bottling.

The wine is aromatic and expressive, with pear, ginger and lychee on the nose, and a palate that’s bright, slightly spicy and long. There’s a fine line of acidity running through the middle that keeps the fruit in check. A clean, generous Pinot Gris that feels distinctly Otago but very much Te Kano’s own.
