2022 Thorne & Daughters Menagerie Pinotage

The 2022 Thorne & Daughters Menagerie Pinotage is a contemporary take on South Africa’s unique grape, crafted by the talented John and Tasha Seccombe. This vibrant wine reflects the couple's deep connection to the Western Cape, where they combine old vineyard parcels with modern techniques to create wines that tell a story.

Sourced from a mid-1990s vineyard in Skurfberg, the grapes undergo carbonic maceration in stainless steel tanks before being pressed into neutral oak barrels for nine months of maturation. This gentle approach highlights the grape’s natural character and results in a wine with exquisite balance and freshness.

It has seductive aromas of cherry, plum, pomegranate, and a delightfully floral perfume. The palate is medium-bodied, offering a delightful mix of bloody plum, rhubarb, raspberry, cocoa powder, and cherry. The wine is juicy and succulent, with tangy acidity and the grape’s trademark sandy tannins.
