2023 Ben Haines Red

There’s something nice about the straight-up honesty of calling a wine just “Red”. In this case, the detail matters – it’s 85% Syrah and 15% Pinot Noir from an organically farmed Limestone Coast vineyard.

It’s a lighter style but far from simple. Dark cherry and blueberry fruit lead the way, with a nutty, puffed wheat savouriness and a flicker of leafy herbs adding interest. There’s a brightness to the finish – almost like fresh orange juice – that keeps you coming back.

It glides across the palate with a bit of Pinot-like elegance, yet still has enough depth to feel satisfying. Fun, a little bit classy, and ridiculously easy to drink.
