2023 Domaine Vincent Dancer Pommard Les Perrieres

Vincent Dancer’s reputation may rest largely on his whites, but don’t sleep on the reds—especially not this striking Pommard Les Perrières.

From a nearly one-hectare plot planted in 2012, this vineyard sits just below the iconic Clos des Epeneaux, and is the first you see heading south from Beaune. It’s prime real estate, and Théo Dancer treats it accordingly with low yields, careful farming, and a gentle touch in the cellar to let the site shine.

The 2023 is wonderfully open and aromatic from the get-go, thanks in part to the use of whole bunches. Expect a core of juicy red fruits with delicate floral lift, wrapped around a supple mid-palate and framed by finely etched tannins. There’s depth and energy here, but also a transparency that’s pure Dancer.
