2023 Envinate Lousas Parcela Camino Novo Tinto

Camiño Novo is one of the crown jewels in Envínate’s Ribeira Sacra lineup – a tiny, amphitheatre-like parcel in Amandi with 70-year-old vines rooted deep into fractured slate. Mostly Mencía, with a scattering of other native varieties, this vineyard produces wines of rare precision and depth, and the 2023 is already being talked about as one of the finest yet.

Fermented with whole clusters and left on skins for nearly a month before resting in neutral barrels, it’s a wine that marries purity with power. The aromatics are haunting – red and black fruits, wild herbs, florals, a flicker of spice – while the palate shows both grace and tension, carried by that signature mineral line the slate soils impart. The tannins are fine, almost chalky, and the length feels endless.

Produced in tiny quantities, this is serious, world-class Ribeira Sacra – a benchmark wine from one of Spain’s most exciting producers. Collectors take note.
