2023 G.D. Vajra Dolcetto d'Alba

Dolcetto often gets cast as the easy one. The pizza wine. The mid-weeker. But in the hands of Vajra, even the humble Dolcetto gets a bit of reverence.

The 2023 is vivid and pure, a slippery hit of wild blueberry, black cherry, violets and that little bitter-almond snap Dolcetto is known for. There’s no oak here, just fruit, acidity and tannin working in harmony. It’s juicy up front, but finishes dry and serious enough to hold its own at the table.

This is the kind of wine you drink without thinking, then stop halfway through the glass because it’s actually got more to say. A true Piemontese classic, made by people who treat it like one.
