2023 Henschke Keyneton Euphonium Shiraz Blend

The Keyneton Euphonium is a classic Australian "dry red" blend, a tradition the Henschke family has championed for generations.

It brings together Shiraz from vines up to 50 years old with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, all sourced from their mature vineyards across the Barossa and Eden Valleys.

It’s named after the vintage B-flat euphonium played in the original Henschke Family Brass Band - a nice nod to the family’s deep musical and cultural roots in the Keyneton village. The 2023 season was a bit of a marathon; a wet winter followed by a cool, dry summer led to a very slow ripening period. This "slow and steady" finish was perfect for flavour development, resulting in a wine with great structural drive. 

It’s a polished, sophisticated blend that is already singing, but as is the case with most Henschke reds, it has the legs to evolve beautifully for another 15 years.

"Maybe there is less savouriness this vintage compared to previous years; the ’23 seems more fruit-filled and buoyant in mood. Definitely energised as a three-year-old which is a good sign for further ageing potential."
