2023 Les Fruits Gonzo Cinsault Grenache

The Gonzo is a captivating Cinsault Grenache blend from old vine McLaren Vale Grenache from Fi Wood in Blewitt Springs and young Cinsault from Wayne Ahrens in the Barossa.

Made in a 'dry' carbonic style to maximize aromatics, the wine undergoes a two-week carbonic maceration before being foot-crushed and macerated for a couple of days. It's then pressed about halfway to dryness and finished as a blend in a tank before heading to large old barrels. The fermentation process typically takes around six weeks, but the results are well worth the wait. 

It's a wine of interest and contrast; sweetly savoury, with some bitter twists, and a sinewy, rustic finish. Highly recommended for lovers of lo-fi but hi-class fine wine.
