Tom Puyaubert is a Frenchman making Rioja, and his wines are a breath of fresh air in a region often dominated by heavy American oak. His "Bozeto" is widely regarded as one of the best-value reds coming out of Spain - a juicy, fruit-forward wine that prioritises drinkability over heavy extraction.

While most entry-level Riojas rely on Tempranillo, this blend flips the script, led by 65% Garnacha from old vines in the sandy soils of Rioja Oriental. This is supported by mature Tempranillo and Graciano from the high-altitude vineyards of Rioja Alta. The winemaking is designed to capture pure energy: fermentation in concrete and steel, followed by ageing in concrete and large oak vats (5,000L).

Tom also uses a touch of semi-carbonic maceration here, giving the wine a "bouncy," joyful lift. It opens with aromas of smoky blackberry, wild herbs and dusky spices. The palate is juicy and velvety, with notes of espresso and dried flowers, finishing with precision rather than weight. It is a bright, succulent "grower Rioja" that punches well above its price tag.
