2024 Brave Souls The Whaler Shiraz

The Whaler is a collaboration between the Sons of Eden crew and David Fesq, and it’s consistently one of the best Barossa bargains we see. It’s a 75/25 blend of Barossa and Eden Valley fruit, which gives you that classic western ridge density alongside a brighter, more aromatic lift from the cooler hills.

The 2024 is a fresh, vibrant take on the region. It’s seen 14 months in oak and a bit of whole-bunch work, adding a nice toasted seasoning to the ripe plum and mulberry fruit. It’s plush and intense, but the tannins are silky, keeping the whole thing feeling balanced rather than heavy.

It’s basically everything you want in a modern Barossa Shiraz - hearty, blue-fruited, and dripping with regional character. A delicious full-flavoured red that punches way above its price point.
