2024 Matassa Brutal Orange

Tom Lubbe’s "Brutal" label is always a wild ride, and this is a high-altitude, skin contact expression of old-vine Grenache Blanc and Macabeu from those gnarly schist slopes in Calce.

With 40 days on skins, there’s proper grip here. Tom lets it sit in old demi-muids, which buffs out the edges while keeping that raw, electric energy front and centre. It’s unfined, unfiltered, and exactly the kind of living wine we've come to expect from the Matassa cellar.

It’s packed with dried citrus peel, mountain herbs, and a serious hit of stony minerality. The texture is chewy and satisfying but never feels heavy - it's a loose, savoury, and deeply drinkable orange wine that’s built for food.
