2024 Matassa Olla Blanc

This is the white counterpart to the Olla Rouge, and it’s just as much of a staple in the Matassa lineup. Tom uses equal parts Muscat à Petits Grains and Macabeu here, sourced from 40 to 50-year-old vines sitting high up at 600 metres on limestone and red clay.

The winemaking keeps things lively and a bit unconventional. It gets a week of whole-bunch carbonic fermentation in concrete before being tucked away in a mix of fibreglass and large old wood. That short maceration gives the wine a lovely, hazy gold colour and a bit of a floral lift without it ever becoming too perfumed or "soapy" like some Muscat-based blends can.

It’s incredibly fresh, driven by that high-altitude acidity and a clear, mineral finish from the limestone soils. You get plenty of bright citrus and a touch of spice, but the vibe remains loose and easy-drinking. It’s a textural, aromatic white that feels very much alive in the glass.
