2024 Mayford Chardonnay

Mayford only grows one white grape, and they make it count. Their cult-favourite Chardonnay is big on flavour, beautifully textured, and unapologetically a wine for people who actually like Chardonnay.

The excellent 2024 season resulted in balanced fruit with serious flavour but as always with Mayford, lovely freshness and tension. Hand-picked in small batches, whole-bunch pressed, and sent to French oak (25% new) for a wild ferment, it then spent 11 months on lees with partial malo, building some richness into the palate.

It smells like a dream - citrus blossom, yellow peach, toasted nuts, beeswax, and a flash of flinty smoke. The palate is lush but lively, balancing weight with fresh acidity and a finish that just keeps rolling.

A wonderful Chardonnay - Mayford has a cult following for good reason.
