2024 Ottelia Chardonnay

Ottelia’s 2024 Chardonnay comes from cool-climate vineyards in Mount Gambier, where limestone soils and sea breezes shape a style that’s fresh, fine and quietly distinctive. Winemaker John Innes has always aimed for balance – a little texture, a little grip, but never too much oak or weight.

The fruit was picked early for tension and brightness, then wild-fermented in a mix of old and new French oak. It sat on lees for a few months to build body without losing that coastal freshness that defines the region.

It’s bright and lively, with white peach, grapefruit and a touch of cashew and struck flint. The palate is clean and focused, carrying just enough texture to make it interesting without weighing it down. Everything feels in tune – crisp, savoury and perfectly judged.
