2024 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Santenay Rouge 1er Cru La Comme

La Comme is one of the jewels of Santenay, tucked right on the border with Chassagne and known for producing Pinot Noir of surprising refinement compared to the sturdier style often associated with the village. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey’s take on this 1er Cru is as precise and thoughtful as you’d expect, showing both the inherent character of Santenay fruit and the polish of careful, attentive winemaking.

The 2024 was a low-yielding, challenging year, but the surviving fruit produced a Pinot Noir of appealing delicacy and lift. Rather than the darker fruits and weight of warmer years, the 2024 offers bright red berry notes, floral aromatics, and a savoury mineral backbone. It feels vibrant and finely detailed, framed by modest alcohol and elegant, fine tannins. It’s approachable now with air but has the structural tension to reward time in the cellar.

Quantities are always small with PYCM, but the severe yield reductions of the 2024 season make it even harder to find. It remains a great opportunity to see this 1er Cru vineyard rendered in such a fresh, transparent style.
