2024 Yangarra Ovitelli Grenache
From a single block of 1946-planted bush vines at the heart of Yangarra’s certified biodynamic vineyard, the Ovitelli is Grenache at its most poised and pure. This wine has become one of the benchmark expressions of the variety in Australia - a study in restraint, precision, and site transparency.
Sourced from Block 30, adjacent to the famed High Sands vines, the fruit is meticulously berry sorted, destemmed, and fermented in large ceramic eggs. The wine remains on skins for seven months post-ferment, no pressings, no oak, just slow, patient development in ceramic.
The 2024 vintage has more flesh than the fine-boned 2023 and looks all the better for it. Plushness and purity is how we describe the 2024 - it's sensational.
A pure, site-driven expression that feels less like a winemaker’s fingerprint and more like a direct transmission from vine to glass. One of Australia’s great Grenaches - full stop.

"This is up there with the best Ovitellis... Dried cranberry and red cherry, pomegranate, dehydrated and ground orange peel, pressed and fresh wildflowers. The nose is mesmerising, swirling with rose, musk, wild fennel and medina spice, heady with exotica. Transparent, nothing heavy or sweet, just such poise, such harmony, nothing out of place, yet nothing forced or over polished. The tannins are fine, chewy and layered, the length spectacular."

"Together, the wine looks both supple and tightly coiled, and it bears all the hallmarks of aging impressively well over the week it has been open, and decades into the future too. This is a super wine."

"Smart grenache that will reveal more when cellared."
