2025 Clovis Riesling

The second half of Louis Schell’s killer debut, this Riesling is a far cry from the lean, bony styles often found in the region. Sourced from the family’s Rostein vineyard in the high-altitude Flaxman Valley (Eden Valley), Louis has applied a thoughtful, textural approach that makes this one of the most interesting whites we've seen emerge from the Barossa high country in a while.

The defining feature here is skin contact. The fruit sat on skins for ten days before pressing, a technique that builds a chewy, savoury dimension into the wine. On the nose, it’s unexpectedly spicy and complex, offering layers of fennel and Meyer lemon alongside a light salty/spicy note. There's a gentle tug of grip from the skins, taking it up a notch from more classic styles in the Eden.

At just 11.8% alcohol, it remains lightweight and zesty, but with a structural depth that we just loved. Much like its Grenache stablemate, this is a highly limited release that signals the arrival of a major new talent in Barossan wine.
