2025 Decades Chardonnay

Steve Flamsteed and Brad Rogers have kept their philosophy simple from the start at Decades: farm good fruit, don't get in the way, and trust the Coal River Valley to do the work.

2025 gave them a lovely cool year to work with, allowing slow, even flavour development. The winemaking was simple as always: hand-picked, sorted, whole bunch pressed straight into large seasoned French oak for wild fermentation. Half the barrels went through spontaneous malo, which adds softness without losing the wine's citrusy, taut frame.

What comes through is a real mineral clarity and fruit purity. Citrus-driven, elegant, with a fine underlying acidity that gives it length without weight. It's subtle and elegant but not without oomph and presence. It's just a delicious mouthful of Chardonnay.
