Discover Koerner Wines Pack
Damon Koerner is on a mission to bring the classic wine styles of the Clare Valley and the Adelaide Hills into the modern day.
He plays with a mix of 'classic' Clare Valley varieties such as Riesling, Cabernet and Malbec and a suite of alternate varieties that show a different side of this iconic Australian wine region.
With fruit sourced from the Koerner family vineyard known as Gullyview and a move toward more contemporary winemaking, utilising terracotta and ceramic for fermenting and making as little additions as possible in the winery, it's easy to see why Koerner star is on the rise.
As Mike Bennie once wrote, "Some of the most interesting, delicious wines in Australia are emerging, and the reinvention and sexing up of Clare Valley is apparent."

2025 Koerner Watervale Riesling
Koerner has always built itself on rethinking the Clare Valley while staying true to what makes it great. Damon Koerner grew up in Watervale, surrounded by vines, and his wines reflect both that deep connection and a drive to do things differently. He’s not interested in making cookie-cutter Riesling - his take has more texture, more detail, and a bit more attitude, while still holding onto that electric Clare Valley freshness.
This one comes off the family’s Gullyview and Parish vineyards, including vines planted way back in 1923. The winemaking is stripped back - six hours on skins, wild fermentation in steel and ceramic amphora, and ten months on fine lees. No fining, no filtering, just a tiny bit of sulphur before bottling. It’s got all the drive and precision you want from Watervale Riesling, but with more layers, a little grip, and a whole lot of personality.
Properly delicious, properly interesting - a Riesling that’s as much about feel as it is about flavour.

2024 Koerner The Hills Chardonnay
Damon Koerner has built a loyal following by treating South Australian fruit with a light, thoughtful touch, and this white shows what they're all about. Taking top-shelf fruit from cold, high-altitude blocks in Lenswood and Gumeracha, this is a charming Adelaide Hills Chardonnay that marries raw energy with clever, low-fi winemaking.
Instead of heavy oak or excess additions, Damon lets the juice ferment in old French oak puncheons before sitting on its lees for ten months, then finishing up in stainless steel. The whole process keeps the fruit feeling alive while giving the wine a lovely, savoury texture.
It hits the glass with a brilliant, flinty grip and a slight natural haze. You get punchy citrus pith, charred nut skins, and a flickering sea-salt line, all backed by a chewy, textural weight that keeps you coming back for another splash. Fabulous drinking.

2024 Koerner Pigato Vermentino
Vermentino is one of those varieties that shines with some skin contact and a few winemaking tricks. It adds an extra dimension of appeal.
Case in point is this Pigato Vermentino from Koerner wines in the Clare Valley. Vermentino was planted around 10 years ago on the family vineyard in Watervale, a pocket on Terra Rossa soils selected as best for this variety.
The wine spent 20 days on skins in open vessels during fermentation before being pressed back to steel to age for 7 months. Bottled without filtering or filtration. It's a winning style, complete with slightly cloudy and grippy elements.

"It's a beautiful thing, attractive to fans of acid and precision, but I really appreciate the texture here too. It's distinct"

2023 Koerner The Clare
'The Clare' is a wine designed to showcase both the history and the future of this great region, through the eyes of one of Australia's brightest young producers.
The base of this wine is a classic Clare Valley varietal marriage of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, with a splash of Grenache, Carignan and Sciacarello adding plenty of spice, nuance and pizzaz!
Contrary to the classic Clare Cabernet blend, this is a lively, juicy red wine ready to be tucked into immediately. "Bordeaux varieties made in a Loire style", as Damon Koerner puts it.
Super wine!

"I swilled this and thought, gee, Damon Koerner must really like cabernet. He must, as the wine is so good... A portrait of Australia, its landscape, the dried bush elements, the neighbours coming over – it speaks of these things very well."
- Katrina Butler (Halliday Wine Companion)
