2025 L.A.S. Vino CBDB Chenin Blanc
The CBDB (Chenin Blanc Dynamic Blend) is the cult-classic heart of the L.A.S. Vino range. While it started as a blend years ago, it has evolved into a 100% Chenin Blanc statement piece, though the name remains a tribute to its "dynamic" origin: a wild, untamed, and Demeter-certified biodynamic vineyard in Yallingup. This is a site where vines sprawl without trellises and livestock roam freely - it’s about as far from a manicured estate as you can get.
The 2025 release captures all that raw energy and coastal grit. Nic Peterkin’s approach is meticulous but hands-off: the fruit is hand-picked and cold-pressed as whole bunches, with a portion left on skins for 24 hours to pull out extra texture and aromatic punch. It’s fermented with wild yeast in a mix of mature French oak and clay amphorae, spending 11 months on lees with fortnightly stirring to build a serious, "chewy" mouthfeel.
By skipping malolactic fermentation, Nic ensures the wine keeps its electric zip. The flavour profile is a wild ride - think pink grapefruit and lime meeting more exotic hits of passionfruit, coconut, and a touch of "pavlova" sweetness. It’s a wine that walks its own path: high-energy, full-flavoured, and possessing just the right amount of phenolic grip. 2025 L.A.S. Vino Albino Pinot
L.A.S. Vino’s 'Albino Pinot' has always been a bit of a shape-shifter - not quite a white, not quite a rosé, but drinking with the weight and class of a high-end Chardonnay. Sourced from one of the last remaining Pinot blocks in Wilyabrup (planted way back in 1980), it’s a wine that has always occupied its own unique space in Margaret River.
The 2025 release, however, is a massive leap forward in terms of complexity. Nic Peterkin has done something truly wild here, using yeasts sourced from native Australian flowers - specifically red-flowering gum and Rottnest Island tea tree - to kick off portions of the fermentation. It’s a global first that adds a whole new dimension to the wine's DNA.
A blend of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, the wine was fermented and aged across a mix of French barriques and clay amphorae. The result is absolutely, unequivocally. While you still get that "strawberries and cream" charm, there’s an incredible floral lift and a salty sea-spray edge that makes it feel much more adult. The mid-palate is creamy and textural, backed by a refined, dry finish that really rewards a bit of attention.
It is easily the most complex Albino Pinot to date and comfortably one of the best rosés in the country.

2023 L.A.S. Vino Pirate Blend
Nic Peterkin has never been one to follow the Margaret River rulebook. The Pirate Blend is the ultimate proof of that - a trio of Portuguese varieties (Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao, and Sousao) inspired by Nic’s time making wine in Portugal. We’ve tracked this wine since its first release, and it always feels a bit wild and untamed, even though there’s some seriously savvy winemaking behind the scenes.
The 2023 season in Yallingup was a beauty, with warm, even weather giving these 40-year-old dry-grown vines plenty of clarity. Nic puts in the hard yards with hand-picking and berry sorting before giving the wine 18 months in barrique to knit together. It’s a long stint in oak, but it’s exactly what’s needed to soften the edges of such dark, concentrated fruit.
It’s loaded with plum compote, blueberry, and dark chocolate, backed by sweet spices like cinnamon and clove. The tannins are silky and the finish has an exotic, cocoa-like grip that hangs around. It stands completely apart from the usual Cabernet-heavy landscape of the region, and it’s easily one of the most characterful reds we've seen this year.

"Mostly touriga nacional, with a fair whack of tinta cão and a decent glug of souzao. As usual, it’s an excellent combo. Give it some air space, as it’s a touch reductive when first opened, but that also adds a pleasing meaty/gamey character to the dark fruit. This is studded with Christmas cake spices – think star anise and cinnamon, even a touch of black pepper. Fuller-bodied, with plentiful tannins and ultra-refreshing acidity."
