2021 Anne & Jean-Francois Ganevat Champs Poids

The 2021 vintage in the Jura was defined by spring frosts that wiped out most of the region's crop. What made it through tells a particular story.

Champs Poids is a blend of old-vine Chardonnay and Savagnin from the grey marls of Rotalier, aged for three years on fine lees without any additions. Where Ganevat's Savagnin wines lean oxidative, this one is deliberately the opposite: topped barrels, Burgundian in spirit, built for freshness and precision.

Citrus zest, acacia, a touch of butter and honey, with the saline length the grey marls reliably deliver. Textured and full-bodied without being heavy.

Three years on lees from a frost-decimated vintage. There wasn't much of it made.
