2021 McArthur Falls Dam Pinot Gris

McArthur Ridge has become a real fixture in Alexandra – a producer that knows how to get the best from this cool, dry part of Central Otago. Their Falls Dam Pinot Gris comes off estate vineyards where cold nights and bright days build fruit with flavour and a clean line of acidity.

The 2021 season was calm and even, with slow ripening that kept the balance spot on. The grapes were hand-picked and cool-fermented in stainless steel, with a small portion aged in old oak to round out the palate.

The wine is dry and focused, with pear, apple and a hint of spice, backed by a smooth, lightly textural finish. Fresh and no-nonsense, it’s a solid example of why Alexandra keeps turning out such characterful Pinot Gris.
