2022 Carrick Bannockburn Chardonnay
Carrick has been farming organically on the Cairnmuir Terraces since the late 90s, and this Chardonnay – part of their estate range – captures the shape and energy of the Bannockburn landscape. The fruit comes from some of the oldest vines on the property, rooted in glacial alluvial soils that keep acidity firm and flavours precise.
The 2022 fruit was hand-picked, gently pressed and fermented in French oak, around 16% new, before spending 10 months on lees and a further stretch in tank to settle. It’s a detailed, balanced wine that focuses on texture and flow rather than oak weight.
The palate is bright and long, showing lemon, peach and apricot with a hint of toast and walnut. There’s plenty of freshness and grip, carried by the natural acidity of the site. Certified organic since 2008, it’s a clean, focused Chardonnay that shows exactly why Carrick has become one of Bannockburn’s benchmark producers.
