2022 Castagna Chenin Blanc

Julian Castagna has been doing things his own way in Beechworth since the late ’90s. He and his family built their vineyard from scratch – no shortcuts, no chemicals, just hard work and biodynamics from day one. These days the place is humming, with son Adam helping out and Julian still calling the shots in the winery.

Chenin Blanc isn’t a variety you see much of in Victoria, but in Castagna’s hands it makes perfect sense. The fruit comes off their granitic slopes, hand-picked and fermented wild in old oak. Nothing added, nothing rushed. The wine has that gentle weight and texture good Chenin should have – citrus, quince, a touch of spice and honey, all tied up with clean acidity.

Another ballistic white wine from Castagna - as delicious as it is unique. A must-try for any Chenin Blanc lover.
