2022 Domaine Henri Germain Meursault Les Chevalieres

Tucked into the upper slopes of Meursault, Chevalières borders the revered Rougeots and shares the altitude and soils of the Premier Cru band - without the official status. It’s one of those vineyards that defies classification politics, and under the hands of Jean-François Germain, it’s every bit a Premier Cru in disguise.

The 2022 release is powerful and tightly wound, with the chalky energy and drive that defines this site. It’s a village wine on the label, but in the glass, it punches far above its weight.

With only a tiny allocation making it to Australia, this is as close to unicorn territory as it gets for white Burgundy lovers.
