2022 Domaine Les Astrelles Les Combes Bourgogne Rouge

Domaine Les Astrelles is one of Burgundy’s most exciting new names – though its roots run deep. The estate was founded in 2019 when Isabelle and Jean-Marie Chapier, longtime wine lovers turned full-time vignerons, purchased the former Domaine Pierre Naigeon in Gevrey-Chambertin. They brought in Julien Millet to lead the cellar – a talented young winemaker with experience at Comte de Vogüé, Bruno Clavelier and even Prophets Rock in New Zealand.

Julien farms the domaine’s 11 hectares organically across 72 tiny parcels scattered through the Côte d’Or and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. Every lot is fermented and aged separately, giving him an intimate handle on each site’s character.

The Bourgogne Rouge ‘Les Combes’ comes from parcels near the base of the slope, all destemmed and fermented naturally with gentle pump-overs rather than punch-downs. It’s aged in neutral oak to preserve brightness and perfume. The result is a supple, red-fruited Pinot that feels pure and unforced – all freshness, fine tannin and quiet detail.
