2023 Chard Farm Mata-au Pinot Noir

Chard Farm has been part of Central Otago’s fabric since the late 80s, known for elegant, detailed Pinots that speak clearly of where they come from. Mata-Au is their signature wine, drawn from the best blocks along the old river terraces of the Mata-Au (Clutha) River in the Lowburn and Parkburn subregions. These schist and gravel soils shape wines with perfume, line and quiet strength.

The 2023 vintage was even and steady, giving fruit with natural balance and fine acidity. Everything was hand-picked, fermented in small lots, and aged in French oak – a careful, simple approach that keeps the focus on fruit and site.

It’s fragrant and pure, with red cherry, cranberry and floral notes over fine, silky tannins. The palate is open and long, finishing savoury and mineral. Classic Chard Farm – measured, graceful and built on detail rather than weight.
