2023 Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Sec

Huet’s Le Mont Sec is always the most finely etched of the estate’s dry wines - steely, tensile, and bursting with detail. From the flinty, shallow soils of the Le Mont vineyard, this is the Chenin that speaks clearest to the terroir’s precision and line.

The 2023 vintage saw a rollercoaster season, but the Huet team, now led by Vouvray local Benjamin Joliveau - picked to precision. That skill shows in the glass: this is classic Le Mont, with chalk and crushed citrus driving the nose, and a palate that’s racy but still generous, thanks to the sunny September and careful berry-by-berry harvesting.

Despite just 5–6 grams of residual sugar, this is comfortably dry and lip-smackingly fresh, with Chenin’s hallmark texture and length. It’s drinking beautifully young, but this is Huet after all, so you can bank on this evolving beautifully over the next two decades.
