2023 Dune Pyla

The Lloyd brothers are doing things their own way in McLaren Vale, and this Mediterranean-inspired red is a great example. A mix of Nero d’Avola, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Negroamaro, Montepulciano, and Grenache, it’s made for the region’s warm climate - bright, savoury, and seriously easy to drink.

The fruit is handpicked, fermented with plenty of whole berries, and aged in seasoned oak for ten months to keep the focus on freshness. Floral and lifted, it’s got ripe cherry, sweet herbs, and a touch of Campari-like bitterness for extra intrigue. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and plenty of energy, it’s a great all-rounder - food-friendly but just as good on its own.

This is modern McLaren Vale winemaking at its best - thoughtful, drinkable, and full of character. Keep an eye on these guys, they’re onto something special.
