2023 Envínate Taganan Tinto

Taganán is Envínate at their most raw and honest. The fruit comes off crazy-steep old vineyards on Tenerife’s northeast coast, where gnarly bush vines grow out of volcanic rock right above the Atlantic. It’s a proper field blend too – mostly Listán Negro with a mix of other local red and white grapes all picked and fermented together.

The 2023 vintage was pretty kind, giving fruit with good ripeness but plenty of freshness. Everything was done by hand, wild fermented, and aged in old oak so the character of the site stays front and centre.

The wine itself is bright and energetic, full of red fruits, herbs and a little salty edge from the sea and volcanic soils. It’s light on its feet but layered, the sort of wine that disappears quickly once you open it.
