2023 Nanny Goat Vineyard Single Vineyard Queensberry Chardonnay

Nanny Goat has a knack for turning out wines that are polished but never overworked, and this Chardonnay from their Queensberry vineyard fits that mould perfectly.

The fruit comes from Block 13, a cool, elevated site that gives small berries with plenty of flavour and natural tension. The wine was made simply – hand-picked fruit, gentle pressing, natural ferment and time in French oak to build texture. It went through full malo in barrel, softening the edges while keeping a clean line of acidity.

The aromas lean toward grilled peach, tangerine and jasmine. On the palate, it’s layered and textural with stone fruit, spiced apple and a hint of pastry and oak. The finish is long and fresh, with that easy balance of fruit, texture and acidity that makes it such a pleasure to drink.
