2023 Ravensworth Hilltops Nebbiolo

Bryan Martin has a knack for making some of the most original, compelling wines in the country, and his take on Nebbiolo is always a highlight. This 2023 release is a blend of three separate Hilltops vineyards, coming out of a super-long growing season that gave the fruit a massive amount of hangtime to build real complexity and structural detail.

Instead of hiding the grape behind small oak, Bryan handles maturation in large-format Stockinger foudres. It’s a proper old-world method that lets the wine breathe without soaking up woody flavours, and after three years in the big wood, it has emerged as one of his absolute best releases to date.

If you're a proper Nebb-head, this hits all the right markers. It leans heavily into the savoury spectrum, showing that classic mix of floral lift, meaty undertones, and the textbook "tar and roses" character the variety is famous for. The tannins are long, persistent, and beautifully integrated, giving it plenty of drive. It's a stellar release that will live for an absolute age in the cellar.
