2024 Alamos Malbec

Here's a nicely packaged, lush, warming red that scratches the Argentinian Malbec itch for a very reasonable price.

Cultivated by the Catena family for over a century, these Mendoza vineyards soaring at between 3,000 to 5,000 feet above sea level, benefit from cool temperatures and intense mountain sunlight, resulting in happy, ripe grapes bursting with flavour. 

This is Malbec, blended with small portions of Syrah and Bonarda, offers concentrated flavours of plum, dark cherry and blackberry. A little hint of vanillin oak adds a touch of complexity, while smooth, slinky tannins provide a full structure through the rich yet balanced finish.

It's a youthful, exuberant example of the hero variety from the home of Malbec in South America. Malbec generally over-delivers in the bang-for your-buck stakes and the Alamos is one of the best value Argentinian versions we've found that makes its way to Australian shores.
