2024 Kenny Wine Kabi Watervale Riesling

Victoria and Andrew Kenny know their way around Riesling - and with Andrew’s time under Neil Pike and in Germany’s Pfalz region, you can taste the lineage in this smart, half-dry take from Watervale.

The fruit comes from biologically farmed vines in Morella Vineyard, 447 metres up and looked after by growers who care as much about soil health as they do baumé readings. Picked early at 10 baumé, it was all free-run juice, cool-settled, then racked with soft, fluffy lees to kick off a wild ferment in tank. The ferment was chilled off at around 40g/L residual sugar and left to rest for six months on lees before bottling.

Brown lime, citrus blossom, crushed chalk and a lick of spritz that carries the palate. It’s got sweetness, sure - but it finishes dry and snappy, with that mineral Watervale line humming underneath.

Playful, precise, and ridiculously drinkable, it’s a Clare Valley Riesling that breaks from the usual mould without ever losing its place.
