2024 Matassa Olla Rouge

Tom Lubbe has been carving out a path of wild, high-energy wines in the rugged hills of Calce in Roussillon for years, and the Olla Rouge is the ultimate entry point to his world.

The 2024 is a bright, crunchy red blend of 60% Grenache Noir, 20% Grenache Gris and 20% Macabeu, capturing the schist soils of the region without the heavy, boozy weight you might expect from Southern France. Instead, there’s a lovely tension and a sense of life that Matassa is renowned for.

Expect a glass full of wild strawberries, mountain herbs, and a savoury, stony edge. It’s a loose-knit, natural feeling style for sure, but with plenty of delicious red fruit and drinkability. Built for big tables and loves a chill!
