2024 Moorooduc Estate Chardonnay
The 2024 Estate Chardonnay shows exactly why Moorooduc remains one of the most consistent names on the Mornington Peninsula. Made mostly from the McIntyre vineyard, with a little fruit from Osborn and Garden, it’s a beautiful mix of ripeness, texture and freshness – the kind of wine that feels effortless but clearly isn’t.
Hand-harvested fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented wild in French oak (around 10% new). Most of the barrels went through malo, and the wine spent nine months on lees before bottling. Nothing flashy – just patient, careful winemaking that lets the vineyard character do the work.
The flavours sit right in that sweet spot between citrus and stone fruit – think nectarine, lemon zest and grapefruit, with a touch of brioche and almond meal for richness. The palate is bright and balanced, finishing with a fine, chalky grip. It’s pure, savoury and deeply satisfying – exactly what good Peninsula Chardonnay should be.
