2024 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Bourgogne Blanc

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey needs little introduction these days, but even his so-called “entry-level” Bourgogne Blanc deserves close attention. Sourced from parcels in Meursault (40%), Puligny (15%), Chassagne (15%) and Saint Aubin, it’s a wine that consistently punches well above its Bourgogne designation, offering a clear line of sight into PYCM’s precise, textural style without the price tag of his village and premier cru bottlings.

The 2024 vintage brings a return to a classic, cooler-climate profile. Forged through a notoriously difficult year of extreme weather, the incredibly low-yielding vines produced fruit with rapier-like acidity, crisp green apple, and crushed oyster shell notes that make it intensely moreish. Mineral tension takes centre stage, and the result is a Bourgogne Blanc that’s vivid and energetic. It may not have the depth of his higher appellations, but the same detail and focus are very much here.

As always, quantities are minuscule, but 2024's tiny crop means bottles will disappear straight into cellars even faster than normal. For those who want a taste of PYCM without going deep into premier cru territory, this is about as smart a buy as it gets.
