2025 Clovis Grenache

It’s not often a debut release lands a 96-point review from The Wine Advocate, but Louis Schell might have the debut of the year on his hands here.

The son of Spinifex couple Pete Schell and Magali Gely, Louis grew up in the cellar, and his first crack at his own label, Clovis, is absolutely on point. This isn't the heavy, jammy Barossa Grenache of old; the first ever Clovis Grenache is all about delicacy, transparency and restraint. Seriously, one of our favourite reds from the Barossa we've seen in some time.

Sourced from four different old-vine sites across the valley - including some vines at 100+ years old - the fruit was picked early in the hot, dry 2025 harvest. The addition of 12% Cinsault further lifts the perfume and keeps the alcohol at a nimble 13.5%. It’s light in the glass and incredibly pretty, leading with notes of goji berry, rosehip tea, Campari, and delightful, detailed tannins.

We're calling it - this is the Barossa bargain of the year. Given the tiny production and the acclaim right out of the gate, this won't be available for long. This is one of the most exciting new projects in the country. Check it out while you can.
