2025 Meltwater Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

A quieter, more considered take on Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Meltwater comes from ex-Dog Point winemaker Ben Coles. It’s grown and made with intention – small parcels from selected vineyards in Wairau Valley and Southern Valleys, all picked and vinified separately before blending. The result is a wine that still feels like Marlborough, but without the shout.

Ben ferments mostly in stainless, with a small portion aged in older oak to soften the edges and round things out. The wine is then left on fine lees for a few months to build texture and take the sharp corners off. No flashiness, just smart, restrained winemaking that respects the fruit.

This is dry, citrusy and refreshingly crisp, with a savoury note in the background that keeps it all feeling grounded. No tropical overload here – just a lean, focused wine that’s built to be drunk, not just gushed over.
