2025 Konpira Maru Whitlands Pet-Nat
This is Konpira Maru doing what they do best: offbeat, joyful winemaking that never takes itself too seriously but still gets all the details right.
This 2025 Pet-Nat is a proper field blend from their own vineyard up in Whitlands, made up of all sorts of wild-card grapes - think Scheurebe, Kerner, Ehrenfelser, Muscat Ottonel, plus a mix of Pinot Gris, Noir, Meunier, Gewürz, and a splash of Chardonnay. Basically, if it sounded fun to grow, it went in.
Everything was picked and pressed bin by bin through the season, fermenting as it went, so this is as true a field blend as you’ll find. Naturally fermented, no messing around, hand-bottled, and hand-disgorged - exactly the kind of scrappy, delicious thing Sam and Al have built their name on.
It’s bright, fizzy, and built to be smashed cold on a sunny day. Pure good vibes in a bottle, no overthinking required.

2024 La Violetta Spunk Nat
AJ Hoadley doesn’t like rules, and Spunk Nat is him at his most playful. In 2024 he grabbed Riesling from Frankland River, tossed in a splash of Shiraz from Mount Barker, let them spend a couple of days on skins and then co-fermented the lot. Bottled mid-ferment, it’s pét-nat done the La Violetta way – wild, fizzy and full of character.
It’s bright and juicy with fine bubbles, a little savoury twist from the Shiraz and Riesling’s trademark tang keeping it refreshing. Left undisgorged, you’ll find a bit of haze and sediment, but that’s just part of the fun.
Easygoing, a bit cheeky, and perfect for warm days and good company – it’s the kind of wine that doesn’t hang around once opened.

2024 Dr. Ongo Pet Nat
He's played around with the Pet-Nat style for a few years now, Peter Dredge, but he thinks he's onto a winning formula here.
This is mostly saignee Pinot Noir from his Tasmania Pinot Noir. Not happy with the chunky, chewy bits so often found in the bottom of other Pet-Nats, Dredge has disgorged each of these bottles and topped them with still fermenting Riesling juice to create a fresh and fizzy drink just ready for guzzling.
Dredge only makes this wine in tiny quantities. If you want a crack at the hilariously named Dr. Ongo, you'll need to be quick.

2025 Delinquente Tuff Nutt Pet Nat
Crisp and crunchy Pet-Nats are booming in popularity across Australia. And when you can find thirst-quenching, chuggable wines like this at these kinds of prices, it's not hard to see why.
This is made from one of the only plantings of Bianco d'Alessano outside of its home in the Apulia region of southern Italy. The Proud family at Sherwood Estate in Loxton North seems like an ideal place for this variety to thrive as it's warm and dry just like its homeland.
The exotic perfume and wildness of this variety make it an ideal candidate for this light-fizz wine style. It's vibrant and bouncy and excellent value for money.

2023 Commune of Buttons Ancestale Blanc de Noir
The Ancestrale Blanc de Noir is Jasper Button’s take on what happens when pet-nat grows up. Made entirely from Pinot Noir grown in the cool slopes of the Piccadilly Valley, this sparkling wine is all about finesse and patience.
Rather than rushing it to bottle, Jasper let this wine age for over two years on lees, building complexity and texture while keeping its natural energy intact. It’s fine and detailed, with layers of red apple, brioche and citrus peel, and a creamy bead that gives it real shape and persistence.
This is the third release of the Ancestrale, and it feels like a turning point for the project - proof that natural sparkling can be elegant, refined and built to age. Drink it now with oysters and salty snacks, or stash a bottle away and watch it evolve.
